A Message from Our Principal
It looks as though our really cold weather is in the past along with January, but the coats are here to stay! We have a very large and growing pile of lost coats and sweaters. If your child has lost a coat or jacket in the past few months, chances are it is in our front office. Please encourage your children to come to the office and collect their lost items. The month of February will be full of things to do, and one of them is our spring visits to Kid’s Closet. One way to make sure your children do not lose their new jacket is to put their name on the tag. We are able to quickly return coats and other items with student names printed on them to the rightful owner.
We have a special day planned for our loved ones on February 14. We encourage students to invite a loved one such as grandparents, parents, aunts, and uncles to lunch. You have the option of ordering from cafeteria or bringing a lunch from home. We ask that you call no later than February 12 if you decide you want to order from the cafeteria.
Our PTO is really working to bring some excitement to the campus and bring our families in to celebrate and enjoy time together. Every PTO event is planned and is scheduled to help us reach the goal of providing support and funding for our students. The PTO will have their Pickle Friday sale on February 22.
Our student council will be sponsoring a week long recognition for acts of kindness. Our staff will recognize acts of kindness by awarding students with kindness coins. When a student has five coins he/she will be able to exchange the coin for a kindness bracelet. Our goal is to have every student earn a bracelet and spread kindness. There will be a kindness celebration dance for the 4th and 5th grades students on Friday, February 15 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the multi-purpose room. We ask all students attending to bring two cans of food for admission. Permission slips were sent home on January 31.
Be sure and check the important dates that we have listed in the newsletter. Valentine’s Day is this month, and I am certain that many of the classes will be celebrating. Please remember we have a wellness policy, and I ask that any snacks that you provide follow those guidelines. If you have a question, please call the office for clarification. Help us keep our students healthy and safe. Our spring pictures will be on February 20. Look in your child’s backpack for the flyer.
Remember to read with your child every night, and we will see you at our Dr. Seuss Family Reading Night on February 28 from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m.
